Project Overview
Thackray Crane was selected to support the installation of the Giant Philly Menorah at Independence Mall, one of Philadelphia’s most recognizable and historically significant locations. The project required careful coordination, precise lifting, and experienced operators to safely complete the installation in the heart of Center City.

Project Scope
Thackray provided a full-service solution for this seasonal installation, managing both transportation and crane operations. Disassembled sections of the menorah were delivered to the site and assembled on location, with lifts executed in close proximity to public walkways, historic buildings, and active city streets.

• Link-Belt 65|HT Hydraulic Truck Crane
  • Selected for its balance of lifting capacity, reach, and maneuverability in tight urban conditions.
  • The 65-ton crane’s four-axle configuration allowed for efficient setup and controlled placement of each section.
• Western Star Tractor & Flatbed Trailer
  • Used to transport the menorah components safely through Center City and deliver them directly to the jobsite.

Execution & Results
The Thackray team coordinated logistics, traffic considerations, and lift planning to ensure a smooth installation. Each section of the menorah was set with precision, allowing the structure to be completed efficiently and safely in a highly visible public space.
