Thackray Crane Celebrates Robert “Bob” Thackray on Receiving 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award

Thackray Crane is proud to celebrate Robert “Bob” Thackray on receiving the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division #25 in Philadelphia.

For generations, the Thackray name has stood for hard work, integrity, leadership, and commitment to the Greater Philadelphia region. Under Bob Thackray’s leadership, Thackray Crane grew into one of the largest continuously family-owned and operated crane rental companies in the region, helping support major commercial, industrial, healthcare, infrastructure, and construction projects throughout the tri-state area.

Since 1947, Thackray Crane has played a role in shaping the skyline and growth of the Philadelphia area. Through decades of dedication, Bob helped guide the company through changing industries, economic shifts, and continued expansion — all while maintaining the family values and culture that have defined Thackray Crane for nearly eight decades.

What makes Bob’s legacy especially meaningful is that it extends far beyond business success. Throughout the years, he built strong relationships throughout the industry and earned the respect of employees, customers, partners, and the local community alike. Those who know Bob know the level of pride, care, and commitment he has always brought to both the company and the people around him.

Today, that legacy continues across multiple generations of the Thackray family. Bob’s daughter, Lin M. Thackray, proudly works alongside her father as a third-generation member of the company, helping lead the business into the future while carrying forward the same values and work ethic that have defined the organization for decades. Even two of Bob’s four grandchildren, Giovanna and Dominic, have spent time working within the company, continuing the family tradition as fourth-generation Thackrays.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes not only Bob’s impact on the crane and construction industries, but also the lasting influence he has had on so many people throughout his career. His leadership helped establish Thackray Crane as a trusted name across the region and created a foundation that continues to support employees, customers, and future generations.

During the celebration, friends, family members, colleagues, and industry peers reflected on Bob’s incredible journey and the impact he has had over the years. A heartfelt speech from Rocco DiSalvo highlighted Bob’s dedication to both his family and the business, recognizing the tremendous amount of work, sacrifice, and leadership that helped shape Thackray Crane into the respected company it is today.
